Own a one-of-a kind table that makes a style statement, but also serves as a useful, durable and heirloom quality piece of furniture. Copper or zinc is blended it with a complimentary solid wood with a hand rubbed finish resulting in a distinctive design. The metal elements are heated and hammered by hand using a random old-world technique resulting in an obvious not-machine made look.
Styles, Sizes and Variety of Colors Available
I can make a variety of table shapes and sizes including dining tables, coffee tables, high tops, occasional, conference, consoles, islands, bar tops or end tables. In addition to the uniqueness afforded by the hand hammered texture, my copper combination tables have patinas that can range in color from a Statue of Liberty green to Robin egg blue. My zinc combination tables can have a bright high shine or patinaed to give them further character. Zinc patinas can range from blue-greys that are muted and light in color to deeper darker shades. The application process results in a random pattern of color making each piece an artful design.
Durable & Easy to Maintain
The hammering is executed to add texture but will not affect dinnerware stability. Copper and zinc are surprisingly resilient metals that are easy to maintain. My combination tabletops are made with solid sheets of metal that are hammered around a stable plywood core and finished with a protective wax. The wax should periodically be reapplied to preserve the finish color and texture. These metals are exceptionally minimal maintenance materials only needing to be cleaned using a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Both copper and zinc have natural antibacterial properties. My tabletops have a standard thickness of 1.5", lead free solder joints (when used) are designed to add character, and any corners and the undersides are finished to eliminate all sharp edges.
